Hi Sue-have you tried looking on google earth? The PP is near to the HQ of the Guardia Civil. It's too far out from the main strip for us at night-though a taxi back is an option. Daytime will be ok as you'll see a lot more of the area. Time walking to start of strip= approx. 20 mins ish! Hope this helps!

Perfectly easy walk into town from PP, and once you've picked up a town plan you can find different routes, including along the shore during the day time (no lights so not suitable after dark). I'd agree that it's quite a long haul back when you're tired though. But then taxis are plentiful - normally they're waiting for you at the rank - and very cheap, perhaps around 3.50€ from the town centre. If you do find the walk in a bit long, you can get a taxi from the rank outside El Campenario shopping Centre, or call one from the hotel (that would likely cost more though).

The beauty of the place is that if you walk away from the town you're soon on Flag Beach, the start of the many-km long dunes beaches. Best of both worlds really. And with all that walking you can eat and drink what you like without feeling guilty :).
