HI Showtime,

Cala Ratjada is a really beautiful place. Nice seafront with lots of good bars and restaurants with seating right along the seafront. There are a number of very pleasant beaches in the area. Nice place to be. Relaxed.

There are also a number of boating excursions leaing from Cala Ratjada, and there's a marine reserve offering some of the best snorkeling and diving on the island.

It is a German-dominated resort with a good sized local resident population, and so there are lots of services, and the hotels, bars and restaurants naturally tend to cater to German tastes.

I don't know that hotel, sorry. But Germans usually expect very high standards, and you can generally expect it to be clean, well-serviced, and the food and drink to be excellent.

I hope that helps...

thanks for your reply

we like relaxed laid back holidays, not fussed about it being geared towards German people, only thing i would ask is, is it possible to get an English/Scottish style "fry up" breakfast??

Hmm. not exactly...

The Germans tend to favour boiled eggs, ham, toast, breads, jams, yoghurt, müsli, and stuff like that.

Most really German places will have "spiegelei" which is normal sunny-side up fried eggs on toast, or "ruhrei" which is scrambled eggs, and "frühstuckswürstchen" which are breakfast sausages (usually very good, but not the same as English sausages).

German bacon just isn't the same. "Bratkartoffeln" are fried potatoes and when done right, are really heavenly. Not likely to find beans or fried tomatoes. And you likely won't find HP sauce anywhere. But you can always bring your own :-)

You might be in for a treat.

Location is good. Central Cala Ratjada, but not on any beaches. It's town life.

Beaches will be 5-10 minutes walk - there are several. Cala Angulla is very nice (the one at the very top of the map which you can't see very well). Can't really tell about views, but as long as you're on a high floor, the views should be wonderful.

You're very near the waterfront, though. Plenty of nice restaurants and al-fresco bars.

I think you'll like it.

english/scottish football? Only if the Germans are playing them :-)

But they're pretty good sport even if you're the only one on the room screaming when England scores a goal.

Have a great time!

If you're looking for a more English-geared place, you should rather think about Cala Bona or S'Illot.

They're both really close to Cala Ratjada, and the beaches are similar in their nature, however these places are dominated by Brits, and full of English/Irish pubs and bars, with Sky TV available in most of them.

If that's your thing, check them out.
