dh247jfh,

We had the pleasure of spending 2 days in Teruel this summer. It has beautiful Mudejar structures and the locals are welcoming. We expected people to speak very little English but we actually met several local residents who had an excellent command of English and some other European languages. They were the female owner of Hotel Mudayyan and the manager of the Torre del San Salvador. The displays in the tower are fascinating; too bad the film presentation is only in Spanish.

Teruel is very safe. We walked around at midnight, near the quiet street of the bus station. The only person we met was a middle-aged lady walking her dog.

If you are going by rental car, consider a visit to the nearby mountain village of Albarracin.
