We are a family travelling to Ischia from Australia late June next year (kids age 12 and 14). We will be in the area for 7 nights (6 days during a 25 day trip in Europe). This is our beach/ relax part of the holiday. We are looking to stay 3-4 nights in a nice town (character, restaurants) near a lovely beach (we really enjoyed Lindos in Rhodes for example). We have considered Positano but are leaning to Ischia. We will then probably then go to Sorrento to base for a day at Positano and a day at Pompeii (possibly via Capri). We will then spend a night in Naples. Sound a sensible itinerary?
I have read the posts on the forum extensively and looked at the destination experts, Peter's helpful web site. I still remain confused. I appreciate it is a small island but do not want to be on buses too much. What would meet our criteria best out of Forio, Maronti, Sant’Angelo and Peter's favourite, Ischia ponte? We will definately spend a day at Negombo.
What has confused me most is this travel note which describes many of the beaches as dirty. Is that your experience?
