Ischia planning ...

am planning Ischia...in Sept.

18 days a little in each below

thinking of : porto , ponte, fioro (excuse spelling )

then ending in sorrento , back to JFK

flight is 7:00 AM Naples...so thought

this could be doable from early taxi ride

from Sorrento.

assuming its a 1 hour drive or less.

What do you think of this ?

Hi again - and welcome back!

Sounds pretty good - although the town on Ischia's western coast is called Forio....

You've not said exactly when you're considering, but over the first weekend of September Ischia Ponte is probably the place to be, as we'll be celebrating our patron saint - one of several events usually held around that time....

But it's a good month to be here anyway, with summer's heat starting to fall away, and things just a little quieter...

For a little more about the island, you might try having a look at the online magazine "Welcome to Ischia" here:

ischianews.com/it/home/magazine/933-maggio-w…

Much of its content is bilingual, more or less... That's the May edition, its first, but I'm not sure if they intend continuing that way, or going over to a printed version once the season starts - however it contains a lot more information than you'll find in almost any guidebook!

Reading back through previous posts, I see why - but it does still seem a little odd to split your time between Porto and Ponte, since they're so close: we just step out of the front door and hop on the bus, give or take its little seasonal diversions!

As discussed last time, I think, Ischia certainly isn't the place to try to leave from with a 7AM flight, but if your check-in is at 5 or sooner then even Sorrento would mean a hideously early start - even if the roads should be quiet at that time of day!

Lots of people settle for having the night in a hotel in one of the nicer parts of Naples, but let's see what this brings, shall we?

PS: not impossibly, some of the various stuff posted since your last enquiries may be of interest - for the "island-wide" level, start here...
