Quick advice needed!

We have booked a 6 night stay at the Dewa via booking.com (with free cancellation). 46 200 THB dec 25-31

I just noticed (and have done a prebooking at Sawadee, payment within 48 hrs) that Panviman have a deal for 24 000 THB (deluxe room) incl breakfast. Should be grab this deal? A lot of THB for dinners, take massages for and other fun things.

Any differencies between the hotels in luxury feeling and beach quality?

For half the price book Panviman. Better beach, further away from the village and more traditional than modern style. But for the money you save definitely worth it.

Thank you Ian, I think we will go for Panviman as the rate is fantastic. How "isolated" is the hotel? Walking distance to other beachrestaurants?

There are a couple restaurants near by, the village of Klong Prao is about 20 mins. walk.

Panviman have a free van service to the village, so easy to get down there at night. It's 15 mins walk from our place to the main road and we are about 200 metres further from Panviman. Tiger Hut is next door - very good, cheap Thai & western food. And on the opposite side is a little 'no name' beach bar which will do a private seafood BBQ for you at night for around 300 Baht/person. But Panviman has a good 2 for 1 happy hour on cocktails - our guests were there last night and loved it. If you come round to our place we can call a boat from one of the restaurants on the river- Phu Talay or Iyara to come over and pick you up if you want to eat there at night.

I proceeded with the booking so I will stay at Panviman. Great rate, 4000 THB during peakseason incl of ABF.

Thank you Ian, sounds great with the cocktails and also the river restaurants. We might pop by to try any of them!

As for the Trat Airport-hotel transfer, is it advisable to use the Bkk Air bus from the airport or how much would a private pickup cost? As we are flying from Europe it would be great to get to our hotel as quick as possible.

If we want to hire a car, I can't find any of the larger rentalcompanies. Is it easily done elsewhere or via the hotel? Costs approx?

hi - the shared minibus transfer is almost as quick as a private transfer but you will probably be making a couple of stops on the way for other guests. But be thankful that their detours will be nothing like yours, at around 15 minutes to Panviman from the main road!! The transfer price, walk-in, is 470 Baht per person one way. If you want to save a few baht, you can book with us at 380 Baht, on the exact same minibus. Please PM us to arrange that.

Private xfer for 2 pax, Trat Airport to Panviman, about 1800THB.

Car hire, saloon or small jeep, around 1400THB per day, from many tours agents around the island.
