Mall near Dulles

My father in-law flys to Dulles to break up his international flight. He stays 3 days near Dulles and would like to stay near a mall. He is in his 70's so he likes the hotel to be near the mall and will probably spend 3 days shopping and dining in the mall.

What's the biggest mall near Dulles with hotels.

He takes a taxi to and from the airport.

Last time he stayed at the Hyatt at Reston town center but found the area to be kind of limited.

Any info will be great.

Lots of strip malls on 28 near Dulles but I think the closes big mall would be Fair Oaks Mall

It is somewhat further from Dulles than the other malls mentioned, but I'd suggest a hotel near Tyson's Corner Center. For three days, it has far more to do, including a movie theater, than the other listed malls. The Ritz Carlton Tyson's Corner is the nicest hotel nearby (attached to the Tyson's Galleria, and a short cab ride to the main mall Tyson's Corner Center), and you can get rates similar to the Hyatt if you are lucky.

Dulles Town Center is the closest. Second closest is a toss up between Tysons Corner Center and Fair Oaks.

Tysons Corner offers a lot of shopping, and a lot of upscale shopping you don't find in other "typical" malls, such as Saks, Neiman Marcus, etc. BUT, the area is very congested.

There is also an Outlet Mall shopping center in Leesburg which is not too far from Dulles airport. They have a lot of good deals there.

If he thought Hyatt Reston Town Center was limited, then he needs to go either to Tyson's Corner or farther into Arlington or even DC. If he has 3 days, he should head into DC. (Fair Oaks and Dulles Town Center would not please him if he wasn't fond of Reston.)

If he is looking for something different he might head west to Leesburg or Middleburg, but that would be a very different experience from Reston. It would be more historic, quaint, require some transportation to get to a few other quaint, historic areas. But if he wants urban and all walkable, he should go to DC for those 3 days.

Dulles Town Center and the Leesburg Outlet Mall should give him all the shopping he wants. Also the least distant from IAD.

Dulles Town Center Mall would be the most convenient. It is surrounded by restaurants, and at least one of the hotels (a Marriott) is within walking distance to the mall, and provides free shuttle service to the airport.

Dulles Town Center is the closest shopping mall. There is also a big outlet mall in Leesburg, west of Dulles.
