We're considering Chincoteague for September or October, and are looking for information about surf fishing on Assateague or Chincoteague. We do not have four wheel drive, so we would like to find places with close to beach parking.

Both the North end (near Ocean City MD) and South end (near Chincoteague) of Assateague Island have decent surf fishing areas with "close to beach parking".

Hi - We do have plenty of surf fishing here at the beach. You access the beach through the wildlife refuge - day or week passes are available or if you have a duck stamp or any other federal park pass it's free. There are nearly 500 parking spaces at the beach lots and September is amazing here! Hope you have a great trip!

Here you can serf fish in any area not staffed or supervised by a lifeguard. Literally you can walk about 75yards from your parking spot and cast your line. We have never had a problem, people swim in the same areas all the time. Just both have to use common sense. The island as a whole & the fishing is great that time of year! Enjoy!
