there are a couple of hotels that are fairly close to the JPJ, but the problem is if you want to be close to the restaurants and bars, then you probably want to pick a different location. the two main areas are the Corner, which is across from the university on College/Main Street at 14th St, and the Downtown Mall (the Omni Hotel). The Corner is a younger, college crowd and the DT Mall is a little more young professional. Both have lots of restaurants, but DT Mall has a wider selection of places and better upscale spots. The advantage of the Corner is you could stay at the Red Roof Inn or the Courtyard by Marriot and walk to JPJ from there, but it'd be at least a 20 minute walk. If you don't care about the bar scene and just want to hit a restaurant after the show and call it a night, then i'd recommend the Residence Inn by Marriot on Millmont. It's less than a 10 minute walk to the JPJ and there are a couple of good places to eat in the Barracks Road shopping center, like Peter Chang's upscale Chinese restaurant. But if you'd like to spend a night out on the town, I'd suggest staying at the Omni at the DT Mall and cabbing it to the JPJ.

If you want something walking distance to JPJ Arena, your best bet is probably Cavalier Inn although it's more of a budget hotel/motel.
