Vacation in Ludlow, VT

Going to be vacationing in Ludlow, VT this summer. Two couples - one with a 2 year old and the other with a 3 year old. Wondering if there are any MUST-DOS for restaurants or activities in the area. Do not mind a little drive - an hour or so if there is something that is highly recommended. We are interested in good food, but kid-welcoming.

Also, there may be adult time -meaning "date nights" or "girls/boys day or night out." Any suggestions for those would also be wonderful. Thanks!

The kids would probably like the Monshire Museum in Norwich.

Billings Farm and Museum in Woodstock would be another idea.

I'm trying to remember the rides at Bromley Mountain which isn't too far from Ludlow and what would be appropriate for those ages. We always brought our little ones and they couldn't go on all of them. They have bouncy houses and slides, and of course the "bigger" events like alpine slides. One of the tracks is for little ones to ride down with an adult. It might be worth checking out to see if they have enough things to keep everyone occupied for a couple hours. Last time we were there you could buy individual tickets, a full day pass or half day pass..

Simon Pearce in Quechee is a nice restaurant (not sure how kid friendly-(bettter for a date night, perhaps, as it is upscale) and is part of the Vermont Fresh Network, made up of local farmers partnering with restaurants. SP is located in an old mill building with views a waterfall/ mill dam. Simon Pearce also has glass blowing and make beautiful glassware. Quechee Gorge is nearby to discover. This is between Ludlow and the Montshire Museum in Norwich. King Arthur Flour is base in Norwich, too, with a kitchen shop and bakery/ cafe.

Do NOT go to Pot Belly! A restaurant in town. Food is good, but we were there for three hours with my daughter son in law and two grand kids 6 and 8. we were far from the last people in, but no one was left by the time we got served. The kids were great, considering. We all said we would never go there again.

Loved swimming and kayaking on Lake Rescue. Also hiked to the fire tower on Mt Okemo. Beautiful area. Enjoy!
