Best 2 bed condos ski in/out in Deer Valley & Park City?

I am travelling from Australia to Utah with my husband and two teenage daughters in Jan 2007. We are tossing up between Deer Valley and Park City. We would prefer a 2 bedroom ski in ski out condo and we are blue/ black run skiiers. Any suggestions about the best resort and where to stay would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Deer Valley has more true ski in/ski out properties than Park City. Deer Valley does not allow snowboarding, so that may help make a decision.

Almost all of the ski in/ski out lodging at Park City is owned by the Marriot. There are two locations at PCMR the "base area" and the "town lift" area you can find both locations on Marriot's web site. There are some older condos/hotels just a little further down the hill, most are listed with local property management companies or the Silver Queen Hotel.

At Deer Valley there's lots of trail side lodging Black Diamond, Stag Lodge, Stien Erikson, Ironwood are just a few. Best bet is to go to Deer Valley Lodging's website and check out their accomodations. Price will usually reflect location and how recently it was constructed.

Deer Valley has consistently been ranked at or near the top of every ski survey for the past several years, it's definitely a must if you're here whether you stay there or not. Park City has made many improvements over the past several years and is now usually in the top five on those same surveys.

With the local transit system just because you're staying at one resort doesn't mean you're stuck there. DV and PC share a property line (though you can't ski between them, as it would involve ducking a rope) and The Canyons gets closer to Park City every year. All three resorts are within 5-10 minutes of one another on the free bus system and there are bus stops at the base of all three.

The Canyons also has some nice new ski in/ski out resorts at their base area and just added some new terrain this season. I believe that their now the third biggest ski area in North America behind Vail and Whistler/Blackomb.

Dear kickstand

thank you so much for your informative reply. I think we are tending towards Deer Valley. Do you know the Mont Cervin ski in ski out property or do you have any suggestions about where to stay in Deer Valley? also, is it a big problem to be there when the Sundance Film Festival is on? thank you

Sundance is a VERY busy time but mainly in the town of Park City. I have found the ski runs to be virtually empty as most people in town are out trying to spot a celebrity. The restaurants will be packed and advance reservations for anything - accommodations and restaurants - are an absolute must.

I Love Deer Valley--we go there every year. If you go to deer valley lodging you will be paying much more than if you rent privately such as thru VRBO.com. You can also look at properties that are very close to the Snow Park or Silver Lake Lodge that are not officially ski-in/ski-out but still very close. This can save you a lot of money!!

if you are going to pc to ski sundance is not the time to go. the skiing itself is fine but you cant get the true park city experience because its so crowded the main street is the most fun part of pc and is a zoo during the festival
