Park City at Thanksgiving for non-skiers

We will be picking up our son from school in Ogden and driving to Park City to spend the Thanksgiving holiday (Tuesday through Saturday-4 nights), but we are not skiers ( I am not sure that the season is open then even if we were). We are wondering where to stay - hotel suite, condo, lodge? specific area of Park City? where to have dinner on Thanksgiving? I have been read some of the entries, but finally decided to post with my specific info. This trip we basically want to relax, enjoy the scenery, do some shopping, go out to dinner, see some movies - we are open to any and all suggestions including staying in another city in Utah (aside from Salt Lake City where we have been several times). Thanks so much for your help. (Not looking for 5-star accomodations but we would consider splurging a bit since it is such a short time period)

Park City definitely makes sense whether or not you are skiers. Yes, there will be some very limited skiing open at that time at Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons (not Deer Valley). But plenty to do for non-skiers. Best place to stay given your interests is Main Street. Look at Marriott Summit Watch, Sky Lodge, Caledonian. Dozens of restaurants and even more shops in walking distance. You will find economical off-season rates.

Have fun.

With that amount of time, you could also drive down to Springdale and check out Zion National Park or go to Moab to visit Arches and Canyonlands. It would be far more rustic and without the shopping, movies and finer dining, but would also provide amazing scenery and change of pace.

Park City will have plenty to do . Check out the Utah Olympic Park and take a ride on the bobsled run or go to PCMR for a ride on the mountain coaster. There are also places to book hot-air balloon rides as well. Not sure what the snow pack would be, but if you like hiking, you could find an outdoors store that rents snow shoes and go on a little mountain journey for a mile or two. Ask the rental shops for the best trailheads that would be within your abilities and desires.

Hi - we're picking up our daughter in Provo (RTC) and doing the Thanksgiving thing in Park City as well.

Curious if you came up with anything interesting to do?
