Renovated Mitten View Campground

I heard that this campground has been recently renovated.

Does anyone have information of Renovated Mitten View Campground in Monument Valley?

What has changed?

I allways stayed Gouldings campground.

But Mitten View Campground next time.

Thank you for your information.

Well it couldn't be renovated since the View hotel took its place.

But there is information on the park website that says there is another campground now. It sounds pretty much just a spot to park your car with no water and only portapotties for the necessities.

Since the View was built, there is now a small and primitive FCFS campground down below the new visitor center.

Thank Kbecjeans.

The old Mitten View campground has been closed and a new hotel is in it's place. However, the Navajo Parks and recreation has a primitive first come first served campground just north of the visitor center. I have seen it.

New location is here ”http://goo.gl/maps/xDgL” or 36.988547, -110.114363

about 100 RVs and cars are OK. It is Dry site only.

There is also information this web site.

How do they renovated this spring?

No, it is called Cottonwood Campground. And no indication it has been improved.

Thank Kbecjeans.

Now I see.

The old Mitten View Campground was closed. A rather primitive campground has taken its place. The View hotel is in it's place.

Campground that I found to the near north of the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park visitor center is "Cottonwood Campground"

I know It’s more about the views at Cottonwood Campground than the amenities. So Cottonwood Campground has been improved.

How has it improved this spring?

I don't think it has been improved.

Sounds very basic to me. A place to park and a porta potty.

When you're on the rez, the term 'improvement' is a very relative and subjective one. Best rule, keep your expectations low.

Thanks a lot, Kbecjeans.

I saw the following on the website "navajonationparks.org/htm/monumentvalleycamp…"

PRIMITIVE CAMPGROUND NEAR THE MITTENS

Cottonwood Campground Accommodations

• Campsites are not assigned.

• Porta Potty Restrooms only.

• NO dump station.

• Public telephones are available at the View Restaurant & Gift Shop.

• Camping space is first come first serve.

As you say, sounds like no change.

Thank RedRox for your kind advice.

When I am on the reservation, I keep my expectations low.

I will stay at a primitive FCFS campground "Cottonwood Campground",

and will enjoy a fabulous perspective of Monument Valley.
