Location location location

We're (2 couples, 30-something) looking for a condo to rent in Aug. that's very very near good bars, restaurants, and shopping as we won't have a vehicle. We want a condo on the beach that's nice but around $1100 for 4 days. Have checked VRBO and spirentals.com as well as some others but don't have a clue about the locations of these rentals. Would love anyone's input, and thanks in advance!!

To be closest to those things yet be on the beach, you will need to stay at somewhere on the south part of the island... Saida, Bridgepoint, Peninsula Island, Radisson (has the bar, restaurant, newly redone condos). Probably not Sheraton as there is some heavy construction at that site. All that being said, there is the Wave, SPI's trolley which will pick you up at various locations and take you anywhere for free. The schedule is posted all over town.

1 bar we find that is really neat to go to is Wanna Wanna it is closer to the North Inn of the island where you have more options of staying in nicer condos... which is on the beach side... There is alot of night life on the bayside & condos on they side also.. Louie's back yard is good as well as Wahoo... Like the other people said the Wave is free.. Are you could do like we just did... We rode the wave to 1 place & caught a cab to another.. Also at Baracudda you can rent a Golf Cart (for 4) $35 & hr.. If you want to play in it all day $185 I think..
