Cleopatra Palace Hotel

Hi All, we are a couple in our mid 20s and have decided to stay in the Cleopatra Palace in August 2013. Is this hotel in a good area where we will have plenty of bars and restaurants? How far is it to walk to Veronicas? Also, we can not decide if we should upgarde to a Superior room with Plunge pool, can anyone advise if the extra cost is worth it? If we go for standard room, do any of these over look the street? We would prefer not to have street noise as a problem. Or have we decided on the wrong hotel? Please let us know if there is one you think would be better suited to us. Thanks in advance.

This hotel is in a very good area, plenty of designer shops and excellent restaurants right across the road. Should be minimal noise. About 10-15 minute walk to Veronicas.

Excellent hotel

We have been to the Cleopatra palace a number of times, excellant location in a very nice area of PDLA,quality restaurants and shops.

We have never upgraded to a Superior room with a plunge pool but when we have been there a number of people have mentioned they are not worth the additional cost.

I think you would be better going for a pool view room, which will only incur a small additional cost.

If funds are not an issue,i would recommend the Villa Cortes which is on the same street, but like i say for the cost the Cleopatra is ok

This is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Central to lots of bars and restaurants. No real noise beyond midnight even with street views.

Veronicas and Starcos ...20 mins walk .

The Patch .....10 mins walk ,which you would go through on your way to Veronicas and Starcos ,

The Paz Strip ...5 mins walk ,just over the road behind the Safari Centre .

We have stayed at the Cleopatra Palace Hotel many times and have enjoyed the two large swimming pools, the huge breakfast that is included in the price and the exercise activities, etc. We have had a Promanade View a few times and it was fun to see the people walk by - however the palm trees are now so huge that they block the ocean view for the most part. It is quiet at night, since there are no cars and few pedestrians - however the ocean is loud! We never did the upgraded plunge pool, but it looks really small and very shallow and is something we as seniors do not need - If we had small kids with us age, say 12-18 months to 3 years old - then maybe the plungepool would be nice - be aware these are on the TOP FLOOR though. There is a baby-pool near the Roman Pool and also one next to the giant pool in the neighboring Mediterrainean Palace - so it might be overkill, unless you like privacy and to sun-bathe alone. It depends what you want and need.

We are going in December and took a regular room this time. The first time we went our room actually faced the pool at the Mediterranean Palace, since we were at the end of one of the hallways. Be aware that you might end up with a side view, away from the pools - but these are probably the most quiet since they are not facing the pools, nor the night-time bar/entertainment areas, they face another hotel and treelined pathways. No rooms are facing the main street (with cars) since there is a entertainment/theatre connected with the hotel at that end of the hotel.

You made a wise-choice! Also the beach right in front of the hotel entrance is very nice. There are lots of good restaurants across the street from the Theatre. A water-light show. Upscale shops. Walk to Los Christianos for cheaper shops.
