Honeymoon in PDI

Hi all

We are hoping to stay in PDI in the first few weeks of October on our honeymoon, neither of us have ever been there before. As we have a VERY limited budget, I was hoping someone could give advise and tips on good quality but cheap restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Thanks

Again it all depends on what type of bars and clubs you like to go in as there are lots to choose from and many places to eat all at different budgets . If you go down to the Faro lighthouse at Maspalomas you will see along the front many nice places to eat and drink for a nice relaxed evening or you both but they can cost more than say eating in some areas of PDI - A very good value place to eat in PDI if you are on a tight budget is the Camelias Buffet (Plaza Teror. Open 12-11) they have a huge selection of pastas, meats, salads in an international buffet. Serve yourself and eat as much as you want for just a few Euros.it is worth eating there and the staff are very helpful.

Chipi-Chipi on the Avda Tirajana, Ed Barbados 1, Playa del Ingles. Has good simple food from an international menu and is a very reasonably priced restaurant.

For more places to eat ( just click next at bottom of page for more pages ) see http://www.grancanarianow.com/blog/?cat=49

here are just Nightlife & Entertainment:-

Sporty Towers (C.C Gran Chaparral. Open 5.30pm to 2.30/3am) Dave and Paul run this bustling pub in the English centre. They've got Sky football and EastEnders pumping through the TVs, and a party night when Dave spins happy house. 'Happy hour' is every night between 6 and 9, oddly.

The Hopstore (C.C Aguila Roja.) A big friendly bar on the ground floor of the Irish centre, with Guinness and Caffreys on draught. They've live music every night between 9 and 12.

Caribe Beach Bar (Paseo Maritimo de Playa del Ingles). This bar's the perfect spot for a drink to cool down after a day on the beach.

Wembley's (C.C Gran Chaparral.) An enormous place in the English centre with an emphasis on football. There are TVs showing Sky Sports everywhere.

Fantasy Island Disco Pub (C.C Kasbah. Open 8pm to 3-4am There are plenty of bars all over Fantasy Island, so there is never a problem taking advantage of the 2 for 1 offer that goes on all night every night. Loud music, televisions and bronzed youngsters everywhere.

Hippodrome (C.C Kasbah Plaza. Open 9pm to 3-4am) A busy disco-pub right in The Plaza, which is the centre of late night nightlife. There is a dance floor and even podiums, if you feel the need and 2 for 1 specials all night every night. Every Wednesday is Ladies' Fantasy, when male strippers do what male strippers do.

Sunset Boulevard (C.C Kasbah Plaza. Open 9pm 3-4am) Another big and busy music pub right in the middle of the action. Lots of theme nights. On Wednesday all the staff are dressed like Hollywood stars, while on Thursdays there's a flamenco show.

Gran Cafe Latino (C.C. Yumbo. Open 7 days till 3am) This bar is very typical of the bars on the gay strip. Stylish and smart and quieter than places in some other parts of town it's got a mixed gay and straight crowd. The extensive cocktail menu is to die for, delicious drinks at great value.

Adonis (C.C Yumbo. Open 7 days till 3am) Another nice place for a quiet drink in the Yumbo centre, attracting a mixed gay/straight clientele. Strange that all the palm trees are inside and all the tables are outside.

Cafe La Belle (C.C Yumbo. Open 7 days. 9pm-3am) If there is one place you must go it is here. Every night at 11.30pm they present a funny and occasionally risque drag show. The cafe itself is extended under an awning and it is very full by 11. Get here early on to be sure of a table.

Casa Cultura (Avda. De Tejeda 72.) Though the area doesn't as yet have a cinema, the library here at the Casa de la Cultura regularly has theme cinema weeks.

Palacio De Congresos (C/Mar Baltico, Maspalomas) Holds regular concerts ranging from classical to opera and Canarian folk music. They also have traditional Spanish Zarzuela a form of operetta. Contact the tourist information for a programme.

Also consider buying some alcohol from the supermarkets and starting your evening off having a drink on your balcony before heading out later.

Or even do some self catering - lots of the supermarkets sell spit roast chicken, with some salad and bread you can eat cheaply in your apartment and then save your money for the nightlife.

There is a map of Playa del ingles here :-

mallorcafact.com/canarias/map/playa_ingles_d…

To get a good map which is free while you are in Playa Del Ingles call in at the tourist office which is by the Yumbo center while you are here- they are very helpful there with anything you would like to know & they do speak english but always make sure you go before or after siesta time which is around 1pm ish till about 4.30pm depending on the day. they do close at weekends.
