Sandys Parish

Hello all. I'm interested in any information on the vaction rental #23347 listed as 'Sandys seaside cottage on the southwest shore. Its listed as having its own private beach and only a ten minute walk to Somersret Bridge. Has anyone rented this property and how did you find it in comparision to the way it was listed with findrentals.com.

thankyou

Haven't seen this cottage but if it's listed with Fiona Campbell at www.bermudarentals.com and I think it is then the photos and description are usually pretty accurate. The one thing that needs correcting is the availability of a ferry service from Somerset Bridge. There has been no ferry service from this location for about three years. You will have access to #7 and #8 bus routes.

I, and many others on this forum have rented through bermudarentals and also through www.bermudagetaway.com Both are reliable sites.

As noted above, the property-- W 02 --is available through BERMUDA RENTALS.com, which is entirely reputable and reliable private rentals agency. The agency get positively glowing reviews from several participant at this forum....several of whom are multi-repeat clients. What ya' see in the photos and read in the property descriptions provided by Bermuda Rentals tends to be pretty much what ya' get. The only exception I'd make is that their estimates of walking times tends to be a bit 'optimistic'. And as noted above, there in no longer active public ferry service to the SOMERSET BRIDGE dock....but there is a regular bus stop mear the intersection of Middle Road and Wreck Hill road for the #7 & #8 public bus routes.

There isn't much in the way of reviews or comments on this particular rental property (W02) but perhaps some of this may help a bit--

tripadvisor.com/…19161823

tripadvisor.com/…18867591

The W02 property is situated within the '..Wrech Hill..' section of Sandys Parish--a narrow spit of land jutting out between the western shore and Ely's Harbour--near the sparsely populated/developed, far end of Wreck Hill Road, with western shore ocean and Ely's Harbour views. The walk out, along Wreck Hill Road, to the Middle Road will be approx. one(1) mile (approx. 25-30 mins). This is an absolutely lovely location...but perhaps somewhat 'remote' location if you will not be riding rental motor scooters. There is a limited-territory, private mini-bus shuttle that services this West End area--

SAINT GEORGE'S & WEST-END MINI-BUS SERVICE--Phone: 441-297-8199...Office: 441-297-8492

As noted in the description, there are two small semi-secluded '..neighborhood beaches..'--one facing onto the ocean and the other onto Ely's Harbour in the immediate vicinity...approx 100-150 yards away from the property.

Thank you both for the information it was very helpful. I have another question in the details of property w02 it says that the hostess can answer questions about stores in the area, now by 'hostess' does that mean Fiona or the ower/caretaker of the property and how would you get in touch with them

thankyou

You will not have any contact with the owner until you get there. And, yes, the hostess means the owner. There is a store not far away, you could ask your taxi driver to stop there on the way to the property for a few minutes to pick up some essentials and you could also take some food with you from home to get you started.

It is possible to walk there but it's a bit of a hike especially carrying bags of groceries. Are you planning on getting a scooter or using the bus/ferry?

>>>in the details of property w02 it says that the hostess can answer questions about stores in the area, now by 'hostess' does that mean Fiona or the ower/caretaker of the property and how would you get in touch with them<<<

Quite simply...since Bermuda Rentals/Fiona Campbell is the agent for this private property rental, you would at least initiate any contact with the owner/caretaker through Bermuda Rentals/Fiona Campbell. Then depending on the owner's/agent's preference, Bermuda Rentals/Fiona Campbell would either transmit any request(s) you might have or put you in direct contact with the owner/agent.

In so far as markets or supermarkets in the immediate or general vicinity of the property---

There's an Arnold's MAXI MART market located at 42 Middle Road (at: Woodlawn Rd.)....located approx. 650 yards east (heading toward Hamilton) along the Middle Road from its intersection with Wreck Road.

There's a larger ARNOLD'S supermarket, located at 41 Somerset Road (at: Broom St.)....located approx. 1.7 miles west (heading toward Dockyard from Wreck Road

...and a large MARKET PLACE supermarket, located at 48 Somerset Road (nr: Broom St.) located across the road and approx 200 yards farther west

All of these markets/supermarkets in the general vicinity of the W02 property are easily accessible, via either #7 or #8 public bus routes, with bus stops at each location.

In addition to these supermarkets, there will also be several MARKET PLACE, LINDO'S and WHITE'S/HAYWARD'S supermarkets located to the east (heading toward downtown Hamilton. On your taxi route between airport and the property, you will pass no fewer than three(3) supermarkets along the most frequent routes (South Road or Middle Road routes). Many of these supermarkets between the property and downtown Hamilton will be conveniently accessible via the #7-Hamilton-Via South Shore Beaches-Dockyard bus route along the South Road (Modern Mart) OR via the #8-Hamilton-Dockyard bus route along the Middle Road (White's, Lindo's MarketPlace).
