Cambridge Beaches, Tuckers Pt. or Fairmount Southampton

Which hotel would you recommend for 40 year old couple looking for a fun time in Bermuda. Want a great resort , good beach, want to see the island and like some nightlife.

ANY will suit the basic purpose.....but for simple convenience in getting about, the FAIRMONT SOUTHAMPTON will probably suit your purpose best...in that it is situated on Bermuda's south shore and magnificent beaches and will have better/easier access (private ferry service & public busues) to downtown Hamilton for alternative dining, shopping and nightlife alternatives. Even in a place as small as Bermuda...where almost any '..trip..' to anywhere else in Bermuda is a genuine pleasure...both Cambridge Beaches and Tucker's Point (both excellent properties) tend to be a bit out at the 'fringes'.

Of the three, Tucker's Point will be the least convenient...served by only a single public bus route, with mo evening service and even more limited service on weekends.

Also, this is something of an apple and orange comparison.

One is big , the others not so. One is probably not quite as peaceful because of it's size. etc.etc.

Any reason why you have narrowed it down to these three?

The Fairmont Southampton Hotel is a large, full-service resort/hotel...the largest hotel in Bermuda (at nearly 500 rooms).

The Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa is what would probably be termed a '..boutique..' hotel...at 88 rooms & suites...and the newest hotel in Bermuda (openned April, 2009).

Cambridge Beaches is a smaller, more intimate, traditional (in the best sense of the term) Bermuda '..cottage colony..'.

Im actually leaning more to the Fairmount Southampton. Worried that the other 2 would be too quiet, like a little nightlife want to be able to go out and get a taxi back. I also don't mind big, more restaurants, lounges and options in my opinion. I also like the idea of the free ferry to the Fairmount Hamilton. Any other hotels that would be highly recommended. I did also like the Waterloo, beautiful property but now closed. Thanks for all the help KDKSAIL, Bob1717 and Senior65.

You might consider the Newstead Belmont Hills. It has been highly rated here on Trip Advisor, and my family loves it. Now you have to shuttle to the beach, but it is directly across from Hamilton, and has its own private ferry into town, as well as use of the government one. Great modern rooms, gorgeous pool, and stunning views of Hamilton Harbour and out to the Great Sound. You should also look at the Reefs, for one of Bermuda's nicest hotel beaches, incredible views, a nice location not too far out, and great restaurants onsite.

I've always been a big fan of the FAIRMONT HAMILTON PRINCESS....even though (and sometimes because) it is located in downtown Hamilton (a very pleasant 10 minute stroll/walk). This is most definitely NOT a 'beach front resort'...but it is beautifully situated facing out onto Hamilton Harbour and the Great Sound...and has small but lovely harbourfront grounds/gardens for strolling. The Hamilton Princess has been 'positioned' as a first-class, 'business-class' hotel...but access to the Fairmont beachclub isn't difficult...and even a very pleasant boat or bus ride.

A positive attraction of this hotel is that it is situated in downtown Hamilton for all of the alternative dining (different cuisines, types ambience and price) shopping and nightlife (pubs, lounges, dance clubs). Downtown Hamilton is also the nexus for Bermuda's excellent public transportation system (buses & ferries...all but one route make Hamilton a termianl) and just about everywhere in Bermuda is a '..one fare ride..' away by bus or ferry from Hamilton.
