Nice restaurant in Lucbbock need help please

Hi coming to Lubbock first week in Feb, need to host a small gathering of 20. Looking for a a nice more upscale restaurant to host. Looking for something with a small area out of the main dining room that might seperate us from the rest of the restaurant. Not looking for the most expensive but not looking for a diner type. Something with a little ambiance, good food and not too loud would be great. Also could use some advice on where to stay for 3 nights hotel, just for 2 people.

Any suggestions would be great.

Just trying to find a restaurant that doesnt want to charge extra for a seperate room as this is not a banquest or meeting just hotsting 20 for dinner the night before a wedding.

Thank you

We stayed at the Staybridge Suites on 19th St this summer. The hotel was fine but the breakfast was subpar even for a "free" hotel breakfast. A short walk away is Cafe J which is an attractive restaurant with good food and wine reasonably priced for the quality. I don't recall seeing a private space for a group, but it would be worth checking into.

Lubbock has the run of the mill range of hotels. Its a college town and the hotels are geared to families with college age kids. Rooms fill up during Texas Tech football games, orientaton and graduation. I don't think one would be much different from another. There are a few higher end hotels. What were you looking for?

Also, Lubbock has the run of the mill range of restaurants. You might try Abuelo's. Its a Mexican restaurant chain. With 20 though, they'll probably want to put you in the private room, but they can set up a buffet for you. To sit 20 together in the main dining would require putting 9 tables together and that takes up a lot of room.

I would agree with the Triple J Chophouse suggestion. We were just in Lubbock after Christmas to visit the Buddy Holly Museum and then had a late lunch at the nearby Triple J. The service was excellent, as well as the food.

For a seperate room, The Vine might work as well. They have one on the front and one further back. It's a little on the pricey side though.
