The National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration hosts 150-200 performers and participants (poets, musicians, storytellers, panelists, cooks and special presenter) for the 23rd annual event on September 8-11, 2011 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Its purpose remains to celebrate, preserve and pass along our western heritage and cowboy culture for those who know and love it, and for those who have never known it before to learn from and enjoy it as well. To carry out these goals, the event schedule includes musical entertainers, poetry and storytelling, western writers/authors panels, film and movie seminars, horse handling demonstrations, a parade, a full blown Native American Indian Pow Wow, chuck wagon cook-off, and exhibits of western artworks and merchandise. Our event features more than 80 cowboy and cowgirl poets, 70 or more musical acts, 30 or more storytellers, more than 200 exhibit spaces filled with the best in western art and goods, more than 30 chuck wagons and other special presenters. This event also includes the American Cowboy Cultural Awards Show and the National Championship Chuck Wagon Cook-Off.
