We will be coming to Houston this Saturday. The last time we were there US 59 S was completely blocked in one section. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Thanks.

This highway is always under construction, but you need to let us know exactly what part of 59S you will be travelling.

you can also check out txdot's Web site and look for construction updates before you leave town. Should have the weekend schedule up.

Also www.houstontranstar.org is great.

Crill:

US 59S will not be closed this weekend. You may have some alternate lane action or something like that going on, but it will be open for business. Unfortunately I can't guarantee that you won't get stuck in traffic anyway though.

I lived off of 59 and Beechnut 25 years ago- and it was under construction THEN! Never ending story.......

They are still doing some work on the overpass by Main Street. The delay/backup on the weekends is usually going North on 59 after Shepard and should be no more than 5-10 minutes to clear through the area.

The big construction you are speaking of was recently completed and now 59 has 6 lanes. There could be something in the Ft Bend County burb's, but I rarely venture that far out. Happy motoring!
