Usually off-airport rentals are cheaper, so if you can get a shuttle to your hotel and find a location around there, you will do better. Otherwise, sometimes you can get a great last-minute reservation.

You can also check bnm.com to compare all companies at one time.

Welcome to Houston!

The taxes from an airport is pretty high - it is only for pick up. I just tested Hertz fro one week in May - under $200 for a Altima / Corolla etc. and can be dropped off at the airport but pick up not too far from the airport - worth a taxi ride.

Also you can try a place like hotwire.

Thank you. I am flying in to Hobby and staying in the Galleria area. Any of the hotels listed as rental agency locations don't have cars at the location! Guess I call the company and see if they just have a car there for me. I will try the website.

Following the trail from Hotwire--I ended up at Thrifty where the TOTAL base price was the price per day at other agencies! Haven't sealed the deal yet but I thought I must have read the others incorrectly. I went back and checked--others were 71/day. Dollar, it seems, also has the same prices as Thrifty.

Thank youu.

Try again, they always change the rates. Book and if you find it lower you can always have them change the rate for you.

Also try Enterprise. What dates are you looking for?

Not sure what you are doing but I checked again at Hertz $50+ for one day - Altima - pick up at Gulf Freeway location and drop off at Hobby.

Does anybody know if I can pick up car at IAH and drop it off at Hobby? I'm flying to Houston on United and back on Southwest.

Yes, you should be able to. Be sure to check for a drop-fee though.
