The heat in June? Have you ever been in a steam room? Well, imagine that. It rains a lot in Houston, and then the sun comes out and makes it miserably hot and humid outside. You will literally sweat from walking across the parking lot from your air-conditioned car to an air-conditioned building. So take the previous guy's advice and go to the beach to cool off in the water....then go to the many bars on Galveston Island on the "Strand". have fun!

It is hot in Houston in June but there is still a lot to do. Museums, restaurants, ball games, theater...........

Try cityofhouston.gov calendar of events for June they have daily listings.

Where are you staying? This makes a difference.

I will assume that you're going to stay downtown or somehow off of the metro-rail since major conferences are either in the George R Brown downtown or at Reliant Park at the end of the metro rail.

Go to an Astros Game, go with a whole bunch of people if you can.

Go to a performance at the Alley, Hobby Center, Wortham, or Jones hall

Too High Brow? Catch a movie, dinner or concert at Bayou Place.

Have an "aquatic adventure" at the Aquarium in downtown

Go to any one of the many nightclubs up and down main, there's plenty of them and there's a new one every week.

Visit a museum in the Museum district right off of the metro rail. Offerings include Museum of Fine Arts, Herman Park, Museum of Natural Science, Holocoust Museum, etc.

Hit a trendy club in the montrose area just south of downtown. Favorites include: Sky bar, The Tavern, The Social, Prive, and La Strada (famous for sunday brunch and happy hours)

Jog the trail around Rice University or Herman Park

Play 18 holes in Herman Park or Memorial Park

Shop at my favorite place, the Galleria mall

And if you have time, go to Galveston.

June is hot, but Houston is mostly an indoors type of city and everything is air conditioned, so you shouldn't be out too badly. Dress appropriately, and if you're fair skinned wear sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Do this especially if you're going to be outdoors more than an hour and a half throughout the day.
