Pointe West with Preschoolers

We've never been to Galveston, and are coming to Pointe West Saturday for a week with 5 children under 5. Any advice for cheap, fun things to do with the younger crowd? Playgrounds, splash pads, music, sea life?

THANKS!

Riding the ferry - bring bread to feed the sea gulls

Take pictures with the kiddos at the tree sculptures around the island

Check out NOAA Fisheries Service Galveston Laboratory, sometimes they have free turtle tours every Thursday http://www.galvestonlab.sefsc.noaa.gov/

Turtle tours are booked for the summer, bummer. But the ferry sounds fun, thanks!

We will be at PW also with 5 but the youngest is 3 others are teens. We like to share a dessert at Rain Forest café and ride the ride. The food is over priced and we have done that, but the Volcano dessert out on the patio in front of the Volcano is always a hit. There is always entertainment, i.e. musicians, magicians, Polynesian dancers etc, . on the weekend evenings and they like to include the crowd.

There is a public park called Schrieber park on The way to Moody Gardens.it is on the left after passing Oppe Elem. Ferry ride is good but do not wait lair in day. The traffic waiting for ferry can be long. Watch for dolphins. Sometimes you can see some. Ride to the end of the seawall going east and you can see the freighters going into the Houston Ship Channel. Maybe a carriage ride through downtown if not too expensive. La kings old fashioned candy store on the strand if they can still while enjoying ice cream sundae. Nice area of beach in front of San Luis hotel on 53rd and Seawall... Early in morning before crowds and hot sun. Take a few little buckets and shovels for them to dig & keep an eye on them around the water. Most lids this age just sit on their butts where the water comes in and then flows out.

PW in itself has lots to do for little ones. They can fish or crab in the ponds, swim in the pools, ride the lazy river, play on the beach, there are playgrounds and bike trails too. The beach club usually has daily activities planned for kids.
