Where to stay in Dallas?!?!
Save

Hi,

I will be vacationing to dallas in the beginning of March with my boyfriend. We are a couple in our 20s that are looking to do some touristy things along with shopping, dining, and perhaps going out a night or two. Any suggestions on where to stay?

You would have the most fun staying Uptown at either: Crescent Court, ZaZa, Ritz Carlton or Stoneleigh.

Nearby is the Fairmont which borders downtown and the Arts District.

Or try the Palomar across from Mockingbird Station.

Downtown has restaurants and bars but not much for shopping unless you like Neiman Marcus.

when comparing photos of stoneleigh and fairmont, I like the look of fairmont a lot better. Stoneleigh almost looks a little out of date and eclectic. I prefer more of a modern, clean-line look in a hotel. How far apart are these two when it comes to neighborhoods and things to do?

They're about a mile apart....barely any distance for Dallas :-). The Fairmont has a good location for catching the McKinney Ave trolley along St Paul behind the Dallas Museum of Art - you can take the trolley up to West Village for shopping and along the way, you'll pass many bars and restaurants. Fairmont also has easy access to the Arts District.

Stoneleigh is in a quieter area. There are more art galleries in this area and a few restaurants.

okay, I'm thinking we're going to go with the Fairmont! Thank you SO much for your help. This will be our first time in Dallas and we won't be staying for many days. I just want to make sure we will be in a good location so that we can enjoy as much as possible! Thanks again!

Both hotels had extensive renovations completed in 2008. The Stoneleigh chose to keep the original Art Deco look but is actually quite modern and has a spa. You can't go wrong with either one.

You can also stay at Hotel Palomar which is closer to NorthPark Center. This shopping mall was recently considered in the top 5 shopping malls in the U.S.
