How long does it take?

How long does it take to get from Pigeon Forge to

Clingman's Dome?

Cherokee North Carolina?

Cades Cove?

Trying to plan a trip and spend time wisely... Thanks

It's all relative to the traffic involved when you leave out. I'll give you minimum estimated times and you add on to them for heavy traffic.

Clingman's Dome: if you drive Hwy 441 (parkway) to the national park, you'll need to do the Gatlinburg bypass to get to Clingman's Dome in approximately 50 minutes minimum.

Cherokee: again, you must drive Hwy 441 and take the Gatlinburg bypass to get to Cherokee via Newfound Gap road in a little over 1 hour, maybe 1.25 hours.

Cades Cove: if you take Hwy 321 from P.F. through Wears Valley and Townsend, you'll need about 45 minutes.

Traffic will affect these time estimates greatly, so I'd say these are "early morning" time estimates.

Thanks so much. I'll definetly think about the traffic time added in there... and the times we stop to enjoy the view.

Forget Cherokee. It's a dirty place and is a waste of time unless you want to play video poker at the casino. The trip over the mountain offers excellent sceneray however. My advice, when you get to the bottom of the hill near Cherokee, just turn around and head back to Gatlinburg. Cades Cove is AMAZING! Pack a picnic and plan to lose all track of time over there. You'll never forget how great this place is as long as you live.

Cherokee is the place I was really questioning. I haven't been ther since I was young and don't remember anything about it. We've been to Cades Cove before but it's been a few years. It is awesome and we're definetly planning to go there.

Cherokee is ok. My parents used to take us there when I was a kid. I remember it being pretty nice then. Now its mostly just small shops selling souvenirs made in china.

Unfortunately, there hasn't been a whole lot added besides the casino/hotel. It looks really nice on the outside, but inside it is pretty depressing (no tables, just machines and really high bad return rates).

There is a show at the Reservation cultural center (or something like that) "Unto these hills" I think it is called that is supposed to be really good.

There is a place inside the edge of the state park called "Old Farm" that is worth going to. Also, drive a few miles on the BlueRidge parkway, it has some beua

We went from Pigeon Forge through Cherokee to get to Maggie Valley looking for a store that used to be there (pretty much a dead town in terms of tourist destinations) and came back on the blue ridge parkway. The road was a 100 times nicer than the highway and had amazing views(its built along the top of all the mountains, hills), and bypassed Cherokee on the way back.

You got to be kidding. Cherokee is a great place to visit. It reminds me of the early West. Where else in the East can you see a downtown with teepees? Sure it's tacky, but that's the fun of it. If you have never been there, it is worth the trip!
