There are several hotels in the downtown area. Doubletree, Sheraton, Hilton, and a few others. The Maxwell House is a couple of miles from the tourist areas. There is one hotel, don't remember the name, across from the Frist Center for the Visual Arts.

The Frist always has wonderful exhibits. Cost for admission is about $10 for persons 18 and older.

The Schermerhorn Symphony Center just opened. It is adjacent to the Country Music Hall of Fame and one block from the Gaylord Entertainment Center where the Predators play. Over a pedestrian bridge, you will find, on the east side of the Cumberland River, LP field where the Titans play. All this is only a "stone's throw" from Broadway, the Ryman Auditorium, and Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. Enjoy your visit.

It's a decent, but not great, hotel. Rooms are clean. Furniture is a bit old. The shuttle isn't always available. The military books a lot of rooms at the Maxwell House and sometimes their clients monopolize the shuttle. As an alternative, walking distance to downtown (about a mile) is the Music Row Best Western, which isn't anything special at all, but is clean and books at about 70 bucks a night. Downtown for a decent rate (about 160 a night) is the Sheraton, which is on par with the Maxwell House and is walking distance to everything.

I think that the hotel across from the Frist is the Holiday Inn Express. There's also the Marriott Courtyard downtown, which is pretty reasonably priced.

Holiday Inn Express on Broadway, Doubletree Downtown, Sheraton are all good hotels with reasonable prices. Perhaps a special at the Courtyard Marriott downtown. Beyond that, your prices will start to go up.
