A day and night in Nashville

Myself and some colleagues will be in TN for business and are taking a little extra time to visit Nashville. We will be arriving Friday mid-morning and will be leaving early Saturday afternoon.

We need some advice on creating a great 24 hour first time in Nashville adventure as well as recommendations for a hotel or area to stay in.

We (4 women from late 20's to early 50's) are open to almost anything - music, nightlife, attractions, history. We're also "foodie's" so we would love to know the best "must have's" for dining.

We would love to stay somewhere unique or interesting in a safe neighbourhood.

Thanks for sharing!

If price isn't an issue, stay at the Hermitage Hotel. A great second choice and somewhat less expensive would be the hotel Indigo downtown. Both these hotels are within easy walking distance of the live music honky tonk bar scene along lower Broadway. Friday morning take in the Country Music Hall of Fame, then catch a cab up to Centennial Park for lunch at Hog Heaven and a stroll through Centennial Park. For great eats Friday night check out Etch (downtown, walking distance from the hotels), or City House (a short cab ride from the hotel). You'll need reservations for either. Hit the honky tonks Friday night. Saturday morning head over to East Nashville and have breakfast/brunch at Marche, then do some browsing at the shops in the 5 Points area.

I like wallace63's suggestions. That will give you a great look at several of Nashville's sides and is sure to have something for everyone in your group.

Some of my favorite bars:

Robert's Western World -- just a good ole honky tonk time

Patterson House -- totally different vibe from Robert's, but cool

Villager Tavern -- in Hillsboro Village, cute little area

Food:

San Antonio Taco Company (SATCO) - the queso... that's the only reason why i go. The patio dining and music is a bonus! Very casual here.

Tin Angel - nicer sit down restaurant with seasonal menu changes and so tasty.

Rotier's -- better for lunch but good, greasy burgers. Ha :)
