Imminent visit to Halls Gap, fire damage?

We are arriving in Halls Gap this Saturday for four nights. We are very keen bird watchers who like to wander in the countryside. Could anyone advise us how much damage the recent fires have caused? Would we be better postponing our trip to another time?

Many thanks

Some parts of the Grampians are still closed due to fires still burning and the building of containment lines. There are sections of the Grampians that have been reopened as well businesses in Halls Gap and other towns in the area reopened soon after the recent fires.

Visitors are being encouraged to return to the area.

Just be aware that there has been a total fire ban put in force for today due to extreme hot weather. Conditions for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are expected to be just as bad with more hot weather expected later in the week.

It's best to play it by ear and visit the area if you wish but be prepared to be flexible with your travel plans. If you already have accommodation arranged just give them a call and have a chat and see what develops.

I would have a look at the Parks Vic web site for more information and Vicroads web site for information on road closures.

Safe travelling.

We've had feedback from someone who had the same question & they were happy they went. Check out their post & maybe ask them any questions on that thread:
