What airport is preferred to fly into if traveling to Sunny Isles from NYC?
Will you have a rental car ?
We have stayed in Sunny Isles for a beach vacation some years ago. We flew Miami and picked up a car from there. The shuttle (rail) will bring you from Miami a/p to the carrentalcenter right away. Very easy.
Fort Lauderdale is nearer and an easier drive, but MIA isn't that far but depends more on traffic and time of the commute.
FLL for sure - we use this airport - smaller, easy to get around, shorter ride to Sunny Isles - tell the driver to use A1A - fare should be around $45.00 +/-
Thank you. Won't be renting a car if we decide on Sunny Isles for our 2nd trip to FL this spring/summer - flying into FLL is easier b/c we can get flights from a local airport vs NYC airports. As always, thanks for the info.

Ft Lauderdale airport is slightly closer (20 - 30 minutes, depending on traffic) to Sunny Isles Beach than Miami airport (30 - 45 minutes, depending on traffic). If coming from FLL by taxi, the best/quickest (& most scenic) route is to ask the driver to take US 1 to Dania, then cross over to A-1-A and take A-1-A straight to Sunny Isles. The taxi from FLL will be metered.
If coming from MIA, there is a "zone" flat-rate fare to Sunny Isles (but costs more usually than the metered fare from FLL).
If renting a car, the drive from FLL is easier & you can avoid major highways such as I-95 (take same route suggested for taxi: US 1 South to Dania, then follow sign to go across the bridge to A-1-A South to Sunny Isles -- easy drive.)
