collierville

Hi, I’ve been to Memphis a few times now and have booked up again for August 5th-25th this year, coming with my wife, both early thirties & always looking to see something we haven't seen before. I've never been out to Collierville. I've heard there's a new mall there. Just wondering if it would be worth staying a night or two. I've been out to Germantown, Wolf chase etc, I really enjoyed the TGI Fridays there (although it was freezing inside during August but didn't stay overnight. I’m renting a car for the duration of my stay. I've booked some nights, a week downtown at the Wyndham, 4 nights at the Marriott east.

Thinking of checking out the casinos at tunica, and open to any suggestions.

Any views on a hotel near brooks/rental road, to stay in for 1 night after a long flight, preferably one that's easy to park at, so I can crash out.(that’s me going to sleep not wrecking the car hopefully lol)

Great Form, I'm very pleased to find it, regards Thomas

If you must stay at near the airport after a long flight, then DO NOT STAY on Brooks Rd. Stay at the Ramada Inn at the airport but preferably, stay downtown.

How long are you exactly going to be in Memphis?

The new mall in Collierville is nice but nothing out of the ordinary. It is however, nice to walk around as everything is outside (not an inside mall) and would be a better place to shop compared to Wolfchase.

There aren't very many hotel options in Collierville so I would stick to downtown if you are going to be sightseeing.

A day/night trip to Tunica would be fine, too, providing you have the time which it sounds like you do.

It would be well worth the extra 20 minutes it would take to get out of the airport area to stay the night elsewhere. That is a horrible part of town. I would never, ever recommend to anyone they should stay near the airport and especially not on Brooks. That's just asking for trouble.

I think Tunica might be fun for you if you've never been. Stay at either Gold Strike, Horseshoe, or Sheraton just because those 3 are right next to each other and you can walk from one to the next easily. The casinos are all spread out otherwise (except I guess Resorts, Hollywood, Sam's Town are near each other too).

so I definately got the idea about the area around the airport. I am a little unnerved, but I guess since we would be arriving in the daytime we would be okay. If renting a car I would imagine it will be simple enough to get out of that area immediately? I know over here by Newark Airport its a maze of highways and its a challenge to get out of there.

Hi, I'll be in Memphis for 20 nights but am planning on staying in tupelo for 4 nights to relax a little.

Thanks to all for the advice, Interesting to hear that the mall is not covered, sometimes your malls are so cold i need to wear a jacket in them. I'll check out the ramada inn at the airport too, many thanks

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was away for the week-end up in the north of Scotland, Got snowed in and had to stay an extra night.

Looking forward to enjoying some of your Memphis sun this summer, maybe the odd thunderstorm too lol, Thanks again everyone, Great forum, Thomas

The only issue with renting a car at the Memphis airport is that you have to wait and take a shuttle to the car rental places, they are not located on the property.
