kaceyann,

You can wait and purchase your tickets when you get here. There will not be a sell out.

It is very possible (with lots of time left over) for you to do all that you want in four days. Graceland should not take more than 4-5 hours, Sun Studio is a short tour and Tupelo is only an hour away. I am not sure how long it is to tour EP's birthplace but it definitely won't take all day.

Are you interested in the Memphis Queen Line dinner cruise? If so, you might want to purchase your tickets in advance (on line at www.memphisqueenline.com). I don't usually recommend this dinner cruise but since you will have time to kill, you may want to go ahead and do it.

Also, don't forget about Beale St. and the Rock and Soul Musuem.

Also, a poster here, moviemaker, comes here frequently and seems to know a lot about Tupelo. I am sure he can assist you with other sites that could make your trip to Tupelo filled with lots of activities!

you'll definitely have enough time for everything. we usually spend all day at graceland. we read almost everything though, just depends on your pace. the drive to tupelo is nice. i would say you could spend maybe 3-4 hours between the birthplace, chapel, museum and gift shop. the tickets here do not sell out. a great place to catch a cheap bite to eat in tupelo is Fire Station No. 1. the portions are big and the staff is really friendly. another stop to check out on your way back to memphis from tupelo is the blues legends hall of fame located at the horseshoe casino in Robinsonville, MS. it is free and well worth it if you're interested in the blues. have a great trip!

Hi

Just like to add about Tupelo, across the road from the birthplace is Johnny's Diner, this is where Elvis used to hang out and it has not changed from when Elvis went there. Also, they have marked the booth he used to sit in, so you can sit in the same spot as Elvis, assuming that nobody else is sat there!!

About 5 mins up the road heading back to East Tupelo is the Tupelo hardware store where Elvis bought his guitar. This place also has not changed since Elvis went in.Also, they give you a talk about the full story of what happened when Elvis was there.

Apart from anything else, the diner and hardware store are perfect examples of 50's america, it is a time warp experience.

If you have the time perhaps you could get a boat in Tunica,Ms,it's only about 45 min drive from Graceland and is worth a visit just for the casino's, you don't have to gamble but it's great for a bit of fun.

Don't know if you know the movie 'Finding Graceland', starring Harvey Kietel but that was filmed in Graceland and Tunica at the hollywood casino, they have a lot of real Elvis props in the hotel! which was a nice surprise.

With careful planning, you should be able to do all you want to do.

Have fun and enjoy the king!

hi movie maker

thankyou for your reply which i must say i found most interesting, if i do not hire a car how would i be able to get to tupelo are there any bus or coach tours, if a car is the only option where is the best place to hire from and what is the cost also can you hire for just one day as i am rather concerned about the issues raised on safety of the heartbreak hotel, which i must admit being a big elvis fan and finally living my dream after reading some of the stories i wish i had booked downtown now and i must admit it has put a bit of a damper on it now.

Hi

As far as I am aware, there are no tours to Tupelo, the guy who runs the sun studio bus, Mike, he used to take people down but i'm not sure if he still does it.

We hired a car from www.enterprise.com put in the Memphis location, (Brooks road), that's about 5 min drive from the hotel. They pick you up and take you to the car. When you take the car back they will bring you back to the hotel.

It's easy to drive to Tupelo.

If you want directions I will post them on the forum for you.

Hello

I stayed at the Heartbreak hotel in Oct. Gracelands is directly opposite the hotel and there is a courtesy bus that runs to Sun Studio every hour or so in the morning.

You don't need to pre book and reception will be able to give you times etc.

If you get a chance to see Dr Feelgood in any of the bars on Beale Street - its a must !

Have fun

Moviemaker

My husband is heading home from Memphis right now. I did a search for somewhere for him to eat in Tupelo. Thanks for the info about Johnny's Diner. Isn't TripAdvisor great!
