Restaurant on Islay

What restaurants (preferably with sea food) would you recommend at Islay for a birthday anniversary dinner? Thanks in advance!

If you get in touch with the Lochindaal Hotel/Bar/Restaurant in Port Charlotte a bit in advance they might be able to dish up something great (always based on whatever the local fishermen catch that day).

Not the fanciest of places, but a hidden gem as most tourists tend to go for Port Charlotte Hotel/Bar/Restaurant up the street.

I like the Lochindaal, but I'm not sure it's the place for a special occasion. Try the Port Charlotte Hotel, or this place: http://www.antaighosda.co.uk/

It's true Lochindaal might not be the place for a romantic setting for most.

Haven't been there for some time, but have heard that Harbour Inn in Bowmore (is back to it's good old self again when it comes to the food) - http://www.harbour-inn.com/. Beautiful setting and service.

I would second Harbour Inn in Bowmore, for same reasons as WhiskyTraveller, we've always had very good food there too. Restaurants are always highly subjective, - the Port Charlotte hotel is a " Special Occasion" place, and there are not a lot on Islay ( though there is plenty to make any day a special occasion) but we have found it pricey for what you get, and a bit lacking in ambience.

If you can, fit in lunch at the Old Kiln Cafe at Ardbeg distillery, great location, good food .... a special spot.
