Looking at renting a cottage on the East Neuk, some advice please as to where to stay, Crail, Pitenweem or St Monans?
We will of course be doing some walking, but we would also like somewhere that has dining and pub options.
Any one of those places would give you access to eating places. If you have a car they are all pretty near each other. Also look at Falkand Village with some lovely eating places and very old pubs. Easy to get around and you have Falkand Palace right in the middle of the village. We stayed in the pub opposite which dates fro the sixteen hundreds and. The views of the castle are breathtaking.Edited: 4:00 pm, April 09, 2017
St.Monans has the excellent Craig Millar restaurant
Pittenweem has a few coffee shops and a nice wee pub at the harbour, the Larachmor
Even Elie has The Ship Inn, The 19th Hole, The Pavilion and nearby in Kilconquhar, The Kinneuchar Inn.
Falkland is quite a long drive from The East Neuk!
Not far is you have a car abou 25 minutes, If you are staying in Fife and doing day trips it would not be a problem.
We have stayed in Crail in the past, we like all the places along the East Neuk. Had a friend who lived in Elie. I would say my least favourite would be Anstruther, althought the Fish and Chip Shop is good and you can eat in.
