Best way to travel to Anstruther from London

I'm planning to visit Anstruther in October for a few days. Live outside london and don't want to drive all that way. Suggestions on travel options - Flights/Trains/Coach and obviously nearest Railway Stations etc

Thank you,

Ailsa Stevens

Trains leave Kings Cross and arrive at Kirkcaldy some 5.5 hours later, via Edinburgh. Some trains are direct with no changes (Aberdeen trains) and some will terminate in Edinburgh and you will have to get the local Scotrail train to Kirkcaldy which is the nearest station to Anstruther

www.eastcoast.co.uk or www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you times and fares

Flights leave from Luton, Stansted, Heathrow, Southend, Gatwick and City airports to Edinburgh, prices vary but flying time is around 1 hour. From Edinburgh airport take the 747 bus to Ferrytoll Park and Ride to pick up a bus to Kirkcaldy or Inverkeithing station for a train

Coach will take at least 10 hours each way from Victoria and if you are only there for a few days then I wouldn't even consider taking the coach.

The last leg: there is a bus travels the Fife coast past Anstruther. e.g. the 95. Either head for St Andrews and travel south, or look for buses from Kirkaldy / Leven heading East. Or there's the X60 bus direct from Edinburgh; that's probably less hassle than train/bus/bus within Fife.

You might also look at a sleeper from London, offsetting one night's accommodation.
