New years eve - older teens

Our family (several families) would love to celebrate nye with a live band and midnight toast in chattanooga! Anyone know where they would allow older teens (16 - 20) in to celebrate with the family? Thanks, Melany

I suggest looking at Chattanooga New Year celebrations on the Internet. There will be a listing of events. The Southern Bell Riverboat will also have an excursion.

Yes - Most of the events listed are for 21 and older. I am conversing with a lady from the Southern Belle about the nye dinner cruise.... hope it works out! A nice lady at the Choo choo suggested the "wing it or sing it" which looked like good family fun but (sigh) the under 21s would have to be out by 9pm.

Wish I could find a place that they could wear a wrist band and stay in with us!

Thanks!

I would not recommend the Southern Belle River Cruise for nye (or anytime, honestly). And your teenagers would hate it. Hate it. Wing it or Sing it is a cheesy kareoke bar.

The parties at the Convention Center, Chattanooga Choo-Choo, and Doubletree Hotel are hotels with ballrooms that could allow for teenagers to roam without being out on the streets. The Choo-Choo property also includes Track 29 which is having a big nye party. http://www.track29.co/

Thanks for your input PardonMeBoy. My first choice was the Choo Choo but they will not allow under 21ers! Wing it or sing it will not let them stay after 9pm. I have a call in to the Doubletree but haven't heard back - they are having something. I talked with the people at Delta Queen Hotel and their price is better and they will allow the older teens. They even have a chocolate bar in the late hours - but seem a little stuffy. The rooms on board look nice. A show at Vaudeville cafe' would have been fun. Track 29 is adult only as well. I will check the Convention center - The Chattanoogan has something too but I still need to check on the age there.

What would they hate - is it too cheesey, the crowd? It is pricey compared to other places. I know they don't want to hang out with a bunch of old fogies (older than us!) but we're getting several families together so they will have their own small crowd. Thanks!

Old fogie - would true OFies be out on NYE? Ha :)

Imagine being 16-20 years old, it's new years eve, and you're stuck on an old musty-smelling converted tugboat with your parents and their friends.

I mentioned the three hotels because they provide plenty of space for kids to roam around for hours before "having" to celebrate midnight with their parents and their friends.

But then, your kids might be different...
