If we stay in the HI express at Pawleys can we walk to restaurants? How far are the beaches from there? Do you all have taxi service there? Should we stay at the HI express at Pawleys or the one in Georgetown or at Murrells inlet? Which is best for two ladies who do not drive?? Please help us. Thanks

You really need a car to get around in the Litchfield/Pawleys Island area, especially from where the Holiday Inn Express is located. The LB/PI area does not have many beach front hotels, but look into the Litchfield Inn and Litchfield by the Sea. Litchfield Inn is older, located right on the water and is very reasonably priced. Litchfield by the Sea is a beautiful resort-type development and will be pricier. There are also some inns and guest houses on Pawleys. Pawleysdude, can you help?

Georgetown and Murrells Inlet will not likely have a beach area that you can walk to, but plenty of restaurants.

There is taxi service in the area, but make arrangements in advance. There aren't many!

Read the discussions under "golf10ohio" to learn more about area restaurants.

Why don't you try the Charleston area instead???

Beaches will be available if you really want them by bus, but there is sooooo much to see and do in the historic district and very easy to walk around and make do w/o a car. Tons of restaurants, lots of unique hotel/B&B opportunities, too.

Thanks! We have already been to Charleston. How far from the Murrells inlet HI express is the Brookgreen gardens & Huntington beach state park? Also, how far is the marsh walk? Thanks as always.

I don't know about the Marsh Walk, but Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park would be several miles. Definitely not within walking distance. This is an area where you would really need a car to get around.
