We flew Spirit in from Detroit direct with another couple on Wed the 18th for some golf and relaxation. Flight was fine, but Spirit is ridiculous about baggage rules and fees. Stayed in a condo up in NC at Brunswick Plantation and stopped for an economic and delicious late lunch during happy hour in Little River at Papa Pizza, nothing super special, but good and cheap. Had no problems at all navigating our way back and forth between our condo, Myrtle Beach and various beaches in our USave rental vehicle. Price on car was reasonable and no problem with them even though they do try to scare you into purchasing the additional insurance, we didn't do it and all worked out. We purchased food for the week for most of our breakfast and lunches on Wed eve and just settled in and relaxed at condo pool. Thursday morning we went to Ocean Isle beach, found it to be spacious and beautiful. Sand was a little rough with shells, but we found a good spot to enjoy a fantastic morning (about 80) near the pier. Had fun swimming, sunbathing and watching the fish and fishermen on the pier. In afternoon golfed at Brunswick Plantation (only place we golfed) which is a nice and playable course with 27 holes for a little variety. Thursday night ate dinner at the Dockside in Calabash was very good and reasonable. Friday golfed in morning and went to Sunset beach in afternoon, much busier at beach, but sand was nicer. Enjoyed a beach picnic and a few beers before heading into MB for dinner and the comedy club. There were some power outages along 17 and we ended up getting pizza at the Office just out of happenstance, but it was very good and we all enjoyed the comedy cabana. Stopped at a small bar in Little River for some nightcaps before heading back to condo. Saturday golfed in morning and relaxed by pool in the afternoon then to MB for some shopping and pulled pork that was just ok at a place near a gas station that I can't remember the name of. Then to the Bowery for some good live country music and a number of Bowery beers. We really enjoyed the band, but the drinks at the Bowery are different, they only serve 1 beer and 2 wines, that is it, bowery beer or white or red wine. Beer was ok, we didn't try the wine. Strolled the strip a little and enjoyed the evening before heading back to the condo. Sunday morning golfed, then headed to Broadway at the beach and watched football at Broadway Louies, (Lions won!) explored and shopped then ate an early dinner at brazilion steakhouse Rioz. Food was fantastic but expensive. You really need to be a meat lover for this experience to be worthwhile. Monday golfed one last time then ate lunch in Little River at the CrabShack on our way to airport. Was a nice afternoon spent on the dockside with good food and atmosphere and was a fitting end to a very nice and relaxing trip. Flight home was good and now we are looking forward to Denver at the start of November. Hope this helps someone, happy travels.
