Pawley's Island

We were looking at Myrtle Beach for a vacation this summer May/June. Myrtle beach just almost seems overwhelming to a newbie.

So I was wondering what anyones experiance or knowlege on Pawleys Island is.

We want to stay somewere nice but under 1500 for the week. We have 2 small kids and the pool is a big priority for us.

Thanks for any info on either location

Jen:

Pawley's Island is an upscale beach community of nice to palatial homes right on or near the beach. There would probably be some in your price range for May/June but a pool would be unlikely to find. And there are no amusements.

If a nice pool area is a main priority, you should be looking at Myrtle Beach. All the main hotels have pools and many have pool COMPLEXES (lazy rivers, spas, kiddie pools, etc.). Some hotels have these indoors, in case of inclement weather. And in May, the prices will still be pretty low (most go way up after Memorial day).

I would look at the Monterey Bay or the Long Bay resorts in the north end or the Landmark in the south end (the Landmark is just a little run down but has very low prices and the biggest pool complex on the Strand).

Adults like Pawley's, but kids like Myrtle Beach. So you have to decide "who's vacation is this?"
