Kiawah/Johns Island Restaurants

So what are the favorites nowadays? We will be coming down the first week of May and really enjoy eating out on vacation. More importantly, we are always on the lookout for local items, especially local seafood in this case. Thanks!

Wild Olive is a great Italian restaurant and the Fat Hen also gets great reviews.

The Mustard Seed and the Boulevard Diner are also great, maybe a little more casual.

My new favorite is CRaVe. It serves breakfast and lunch most days; dinner some days. CRaVe has almost take and go foods. Fried chicken perfect for a beach picnic.

An old favorite for adults is Lucy's Red Sky Grill located outside the Seabrook Island gate. I can't get enough of the shrimp appetizer.

Rosebank Cafe over at Bohicket was closed for remodeling during my visit a couple of weeks ago.

Fischer's Sports Bar at Bohicket looks (and sometimes feels) like a dive. Locals hang out here. Great for a good burger. Fischer's salads are pretty good too.

There's a new bbq spot located next to Lucy's , outside the Seabrook gate. It's called Rib-It. It's on my list to try this summer. Looks like a place to grab a few racks of ribs to go.

Was over to Chez Fish last week, very good.

We visited several of the restaurants on Kiawah recently, The Ocean Room, The Atlantic Room and Tomasso's were all very good.

We enjoy Red's at Bohicket for appetizers and a beer at sundown.

There's a new pizza place at Bohicket called Danny Boy's, they're okay, but not great (we do buy from them, they deliver, so it's all we've got).

Fat Hen on John's Island is fabulous - we usually go there two or three times during the week we stay on Kiawah. The barbequed pork (or duck), blue cheese coleslaw, lamb shanks that melt in your mouth, fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and red pepper jelly - everything is exquisite! The atmosphere is casual/trendy, which is a nice change - it is across the street from the Wild Olive Restaurant on Maybank.

Rosebank Farms Cafe in Bohicket was our favorite, but the chef has changed, as well as the menu - give it a try - they still have their honey buttermilk chicken!
