Folly Beach or Isle of Palms

We are coming to the Charleston area for a family vacation in May. Looking for a ocean front home to rent - have found several but trying to decide between IOP and Folly Beach. There are 11 of us with 5 kids ages 6 and under. Any comments as to which location is better? Thanks

I think you would probably be happy with either. Folly has more of a funky, old style beach vibe. IOP is very close to Mt. Pleasant where you will find lots of restaurants (chain and otherwise). Towne Center Mall (open air, not the enclosed type of mall) is only a few miles from IOP, here you will find Palmetto Grande Theater that has 16 different movie screens. Also lots of shops - convenient if there are cloudy days or you just want a change of pace with a movie or browsing.

If you leave Folly and go to James Island, you will find restaurants and shopping there as well. Just not a concentrated area like Towne Center.
