Cincinnati to HHI - driving rec's?

Do you have a great route? Let me know! :)

Also, we have two kiddos with us and want to get pretty far on Friday night. We cannot check in until late afternoon on Saturday, but we are excited to possibly get to the island for lunch. If not, anywhere to check out and stretch our legs on the way down?

Best route is 75S, to 40E, to 26S, to 95S. Take the risk 278 exit on 94, just before the GA border. About 10.5-11 hours. We did the trip on a Friday night once and drove straight through, when the kids were little. When we got there, we took them to the play ground in Harbour Town. We were exhausted, and never did that again. We just left at 3 or 4 in the morning for a while.

Besides rest areas, there really isn't really a place to stretch out. There is a large mall in Columbia SC, just south of Lake Murray. That might be an option as well.

Safe travels. We're headed back in early September. The kids are now grown, so it's just hubby and me. This year we're stopping in Asheville for a couple of days before heading to the island.

When the kids were younger we would stop overnight in Asheville at the same exit as the NC Arboretum and let them burn off energy there. We now drive to Columbia and stay across the street from the mall. The next day we eat lunch on the island, stop at the grocery store and then we check-in.
