We are first timers with 4 children, ages 2,6,7,9 and we will be vacationing on HHI mid July. We have friends going down at the same time, with three kids, 7,8,10. We will be renting separate condos, and I am looking at PD, Queens Grant specifically, mostly due to affordability and availability at this late date. Some background.... We are not bike riders (yet!) so I can't count on that as an activity, nor are we golfers or tennis players. My idea of a vacation is a beach, a grill, and a king size bed! But we are also outdoorsy-ish, as much as you can be with a two year old, and would like to take advantage of the opportunity to expose my kiddos to some southern history.
That, being said, is it possible to walk to the beach from this area? If not, is the Dune Buggy a reliable means of getting there or should we plan on driving? If we take a day trip to Savannah should we plan for it the Friday before we arrive ( driving from Cleveland, so we can add a day without issue) or try for a boat trip during the week? A dolphin cruise? What are our best options with a group of 11? Is a trip to Daufuskie island worth it with this age group? And Sea Pines, is it $5 a carload or $5/person? Where is the best place to watch the Tuesday night fireworks? If we only go out to eat once, with all the kids, what is a not to miss? Sorry for such a long post and thanks in advance for any responses!
Also, I have spent hours reading this forum, as well as the 101 things to do, and multiple other sites. These questions are the end result of al that research!
