Remember we are here in South Carolina, so Alaskan Crab Legs are all imported and come to this island frozen. Where they are served in local restaurants, they are basically the same.

More to the point, you should come here and enjoy our local shrimp, especially in a well prepared local dish 'Frogmore Stew". If you are coming here at this time of the year, then enjoy our local oysters.

Frogmore Stew is not a dish that everyone likes. So be prepared.

Plain boiled or steamed shrimp are great!!! I am one of those that thinks that the combinations in the Frogmore or Low Country Stew spoil the taste of the shrimp.

The Stew first started generations ago, when the poorer folks in the Frogmore area would take a small quanity of Shrimp and stretch the dish to feed a crowd by adding other things. It can taste great....but usually the simple shrimp flavor is covered up.

Any good seafood restaurant will have good shrimp. Broiled, fried, boiled, or prepared in various dishes like shrimp scampi or shrimp and grits. You may also be able to find a restaurant that serves local Blue Crab. There's nothing quite a good as fresh Blue Crab.
