hi iam thomas and i stayed a total of 6 weeks during the TN winter in Fairfield Ocean Ridge ll. The staff was great and if you check in on friday you get the oceanfront suites. this is a timeshare.

If you bike and is driving take your bike so you don't have to pay for rentals.

Thanks for the information Thomas. How are the pools there? And is there a pool close to the oceanfront suites? Good idea about the bikes. We are driving and have a bike rack. So we can load them up.

There are no oceanfront villas in Fairfield Ocean Ridge at Edisto Beach; the only oceanfront accomodations in Edisto Beach are privately owned homes. That being said, Edisto Beach is not a large community, so no matter where you are, you are not more than a few blocks away from the ocean. Fairfield does own a large oceanfront cabana for guests use. It includes a deck, lounge chairs, and bathroom facilities.

Most of the villas overlook the golf course (currently under renovation). There is a pool and playground in the main gated complex where most of the villas are. Most are nice; which one you book depends upon how many bedrooms/baths you need & what you are willing to spend.

Make sure you take your bikes. The entire community is very bicycle friendly. Edisto Beach is a quiet, family oriented community; several small restaurants, one grocery store, several small gift shops, etc. No hotels or nightclubs. We have been going to Edisto for 13 years and love it.

Just to warn you, I had an awful experience with the Oristo Lodge villa... I would not recommend! It was nasty and old. And Fairfield Ocean Ridge was not willing to upgrade us without us paying a fortune extra... nor would they give us our money back since we could not stand to stay another night in that dump!

The feeling I got was that you have to pay a whole lot to get something descent. The condos and houses are probably much nicer and unfortunately much more expensive. But keep in mind that Ocean Ridge is the only resort on the island and does not have competition.

We are currently staying in Fairfield Ocean Ridge. We are on the third floor of a time share the complex is called Bay Point. We overlook big bay creek and St. Helen sound. The unit is a two bedroom and has a kitchen and sleeper sofa. Very nice unit. Large jacuzzi tub in master bath.

There is a pod of about 30 dolphin that live hang out in the bay and they come so close to the shore that you could almost touch them. Fairfield has a golf course that just opened about a year ago. The course is in good shape and worth the $50.00 greens fee. You can walk or ride.

Everthing is catered to be outside. The pool is covered with a tent and is suppose to be heated but we were not impressed with it. We ate at a couple of restruants and they are ok but not great. It rained a couple of days and there is not much to do. Fishing has not been very good either.

If you are looking for a quiet place to visit this is the place. I have heard that in the summer it is very busy but much more to do.

We stayed at the Fairfield Ocean Ridge at the Bay Point villas. The room was HUGE! Large enough for two families! It overlooks the river/bay area. Very nice; super quiet, which is what we were looking for in November. Very nice staff. Pools looked nice, but we didn't choose to swim this time. HUGE jacuzzie tubs, nice interiors, HUGE kitchens.

You need to go to a great restaurant called the Old Post Office, which is highly recommended by Gourmet magazine. Get the authentic southern lowcountry grits. The desserts are awesome. For breakfast go to the Sea Cow.

Take or rent bikes.

Have fun.
