Edisto Island State Park Cabins

My husband and I will be travelling to the Charleston area next week for a little vacation. Our one year old little boy will be coming along. We will be flying into Charleston on a Saturday morning and leaving on a Wednesday morning. I am considering a two night stay in Charleston followed by a two night stay in Edisto Island State Park. Does anyone know about the cabins? Are they suitable for a one year old? Camping would normally be our preference but with the little guy I think a few modern amenities would make our vacation a bit easier. Also, I am open to alternate iteneraries if you experts have suggestions. Thanks!

I have stayed in the cabins at Edisto State Park, and I love them. They are typical of SC state park cabins. They are not on the ocean beach. You can look at the SC Parks Recreation & Tourism site for pictures, map, etc. Particularly availability! There are only about five cabins at Edisto Beach, and the reservation lottery usually starts 12 months in advance.

The only thing I don't like about a short term rental (anywhere) is that for a 2-night stay you've got to buy toilet paper, paper towels, mustard, butter, blah blah blah. A state park cabin has an empty larder.

Alternate itinerary: James Island County Park, part of the Charleston County Park system, has cabins.
