Just a quick review of our weekend We chose Columbia to stay before going to Augusta for the Monday practice round, turned out to be a great choice of locations.
We stayed at the Marriot on Hampton St. Rooms a bit small for three of us, but the hospitality, breakfast, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere was great-not to mention the price. It is located in the heart of the city and close to several historical sites as well as dining. The staff was really very nice and went out of their way to please.
We spent an afternoon at the Riverwalk Zoo. The zoo is not large (compared to the National or Phila) but that is what made it quite nice. Very doable in a day especially if you have very young or even elderly people in your group. Our 15 year old had a blast-which should say a lot-those of you with that age group know!
We ate down in the Vista area of the city. Warehouses converted to restaurants. The first night was at Jillians-primarily to watch the first final 4 game. Food was pretty much sports bar fare, atmosphere loud, smokey-but we knew it going in. Would not return for any other reason but the TV's!
Next night we went to Liberty which was in the same vicinity of Jillians. Nice change, great seafood and dining atmosphere. The personnel were so nice! Would definitely go back.
Overall-a great weekend!
