Terrapin fans heading to Littlejohn 3/2

Would any of you be kind enough to let us know about places to stay, transportation to the arena and bars (friendly to MD fans)?? We want to see a genuine ACC game before departing for the Big 10. Any and all suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

The Hampton Inn or Courtyard by Marriott are great places to stay and are along the non-downtown commercial strip (Highway 123). As for food and bars, College Avenue is the place to experience Clemson. Two places I like to go are Pot Belly Deli for lunch and Tiger Town Tavern for pub grub and drinks. If you like a quieter bar with a good beer selection, then check out Nicks.

Most places you go will be civil to opposing team fans, as Clemson is not considered to be a basketball school like UMD and the only rival that raises ire among locals are with South Carolina. Esso Club is arguably the most famous bar in town and is located on Highway 93, very close to Littlejohn Coliseum. Parking should generally be pretty easy. There's a garage in downtown Clemson and plenty of surface spaces around the arena. Should you wish to use transit, the Clemson Area Transit or "cat" buses are free and generally reliable.

Sorry to see Maryland leave the ACC... it's going to be weird not having to play the Terps anymore.

Hey Tiger, thanks for your reply. We'll be at the game 3/2. Hopefully the places you mentioned will be open that Sunday. Looking forward to a good game, although Maryland looking not-so-hot.

Glad you'll be coming. I hope you'll make it down the night before on Saturday, because Clemson/Pickens County is dry on Sundays. However, should you want to grab a cold one before/after the game on Sunday, I believe that Anderson (20 minutes away) and Greenville (40 minutes away) serve. Greenville in particular is a great place to visit while you're in the Upstate, so you may want to consider enjoying it as well.
