Our first trip to Charleston and Folly Beach

We are making our first trip to Charleston and are looking forawrd to warmer weather and seeing some historic sights but also relaxing. We will be in Charleston 3 nights and than are planning on spending 3 nights at Folly Beach (we live in upstate NY and are very tired of snow and cold weather....I want to relax on a beach for a few days!) We are going over Easter which is March 31 this year.....how warm will the weather be? What should we NOT miss doing while in Charleston? Recommended restaurants in Charleston and in Folly Beach area? Is it too early to relax on a the beach??

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum.

The weather will probably be nice enough to spend time on the beach, but the wind could be chilly. No one knows exactly how the weather will be.

If you look to the right of this page, you'll see "Top Questions About Charleston". Read through those for some recommendations. You can also get some great ideas reading through the forum posts.

My favorite restaurants are FIG, High Cotton, Fast & French, Ordinary, Magnolia's, 82 Queen, Cypress, Anson, Tristan, Cru Cafe, and McCrady's. Others will have different favorites.

You will need reservations for dinner at the restaurants, made a couple of weeks in advance. My favorites FIG, High Cotton, Anson, FIG, Magnolia's, Peninsula Grill and did I mention FIG?? :-)

Weather at that time can range from highs in the 50's to 80, there is just no way to know. That same time frame in 2011 had highs ranging from the 50's to mid 70's. In 2012 from the upper 60's to 90!! So far our weather this year has been average a few days, above average a few days, below average (sometimes well below) and then repeat.

On Folly: Lost Dog for breakfast, tokyo crepe for either savory or sweet lunch, and Bowen's Island for seafood at sunset.
