Seafood Buffets

I know there are a lot of posts about restuarants on here, but I couldnt find anything pertaining to Seafood Buffets....

Are there many restuarants in Charleston that offer the seafood buffets like those found in Myrtle Beach, such as a Captain Georges or if we must Calabash?

If there are many, what would be the best recommended near the Hanahan/West Ashley areas?

THANKS!

Sadly, there are no seafood buffets in historic Charleston. In fact, the closest one is about 20 min. outside Charleston off I-26 (exit 211-B). It's called C&W Buffet, and its not really anything special. Great seafood restaurants can be found in downtown Charleston, Shem Creek (Mt. Pleasant) and Folly Beach. I love RB's at Shem Creek, Fleet Landing in Charleston, and Starfish Grill on Folly Beach. These are only a taste ;) of the great restaurants you will find.

Enjoy your visit!

I know that inside the Town and Contry Inn there is a restaurant called Trotters. I know that they have a buffet but I don't think that it is a seafood buffet only. That is located on 17 South- Savannah Highway about 5 miles from downtown.

I agree with O'Meila that Trotters is the only Choice that I know of.

I ate there last summer and it was really good, but not so much a seafood buffet as just a dinner buffet. Kinda pricey, but it's really good!

Not to hijack, but there is a great "Southern style" buffet just up Savannah Hiway called Bessinger's. It's one of the most famous BBQ places in Charleston and the buffet is fantastic!

Floski brought up a good one. I know that it is not seafood but Bessingers is a great BBQ place that has a fantastic buffet full of southern favorites.

A funny (at least to me) story...

I used to manage a tire store on Savannah Highway. A seafood buffet opened right next door; you know the kind - busy as heck every night, pretty/cute/beautiful waitresses with short pink shorts, kinda expensive but not too bad.

Well it was summer and after they'd been there a couple months, their garbage out back started getting very, uh, pungent. I mean it didn't matter which way the wind blew! I had gone over and complained a few times but to no avail.

One day Chief Greenberg came in with his personal car (he was still in his uniform (best police chief this city's ever had)) for a repair or somesuch. He asked me what that awful smell was and I replied something like "Well, Chief, let me tell you about it!" He said "Well, I'll put a stop to that!" That place was right clean soon thereafter! Then they closed.

Other than the Trotters of old, I don't recall a seafood buffet in Charleston. There used to be one in N. Charleston on Rivers, but it closed a while ago.

I passed Easterby's Family Grille yesterday and noticed on their sign: "All you can eat seafood buffet with crab legs!" The restaurant is located at 2388 Ashley River Road (Hwy 61, on the way to Magnolia, Middleton, Drayton plantations).
